Between 1919 and 1931 seven Ontario-based painters travelled the province sketching the varied landscape and developing their unique styles. They were known as The Group of Seven. Between the time of their first exhibition in 1920 and their last as a group, in 1931, they helped revolutionized the worlds view of the Canadian landscape. The ruggedness of the Canadian terrain once considered simply too ugly to be featured in any painting was becoming, through their impressionistic work, a newly appreciated and desirable aesthetic. In cooperation with the Art Gallery of Ontario we are pleased to provide you with 13 varied paintings by the Group of Seven that celebrate the beauty of Canada throughout the seasons.
